Child benefit changes in the Netherlands

New country of residence factors as from 1 January 2024

As of 1 January 2024, your new country of residence will be a factor in determining your eligibility for child benefit in the Netherlands.

Slight decrease in child benefit as from 1 July 2023

Child benefit will decrease slightly as of 1 July 2023. The monthly amount for children aged 0-5 will decrease from €261.90 to €260.69, and for children aged 6-11 from €302.85 to €301.75.

Refugees from Ukraine and Dutch child benefit

Refugees from Ukraine who have been granted a residence permit in the Netherlands are eligible for child benefit if they have a Dutch child.
